Color, Texture, Smell, Sound, Taste... This month students will learn more about strawberries. Each classroom will receive fresh picked strawberries for taste testing. By offering activities that allow students to experience strawberries using their senses, it engages them in the learning process and creates increased interest, awareness and willingness for eating more fruits and vegetables.

To celebrate National Nutrition Month, Food & Nutrition Services is encouraging all middle and high school students to write a letter to our First Lady, Mrs. Obama and tell her what you do to keep yourself fit and healthy.
In February 2010, the First Lady launched the Let’s Move! Initiative which is dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.

FNS works with families and students with food allergies in school cafeteria. With an increase in the number of kids with food allergies to 1 in every 13 children nationally, FNS takes food allergies seriously and works with students, parents, school staff and school nurses to monitor foods offered by the cafeteria and chosen by students. Students with food allergies must return the Medical Allergy Statement, signed by an MD, to the school cafeteria to keep Food and Nutrition Services informed of possible reactions.
