A top performing district, Elk Grove Unified is recognized throughout California and the nation as a leader in progressive education. Academic achievement takes place through classes that are rigorous, relevant and build strong relationships. Elk Grove Unified schools focus on meeting the needs of each child. This focus includes college and career preparation, wellness and safety.

With a current enrollment of over 62,000 students and over 5,000 employees, EGUSD is the 5th largest school district in California based on student population. The District operates 40* elementary schools, nine comprehensive high schools, nine middle schools, four alternative education schools – including a virtual academy, a special education school, an adult education program and a dependent charter school, for a total of 65 schools.

*NOTE: Two new elementary schools will be opening in the 2017-2018 school year. “Anatolia II” and “Laguna Ridge North” are temporary names, official school names will be selected at a later date.
