School History
Helen Carr Castello began teaching in the Elk Grove Unified School District as a fourth grade teacher when Anna Kirchgater Elementary School opened in 1957. She also taught fourth grade at Elk Grove Elementary School from 1960 until she retired in 1972. She also taught in Oleta, the original Carroll School, and in Courtland from 1929 until 1934. Castello grew up in the community and was active in a number of community organizations.
