School History
The original Reese school was not located where David Reese School is now in South Sacramento. The name of Reese was used for an earlier school that merged with the Pleasant Grove district. The Reese School was located on the Reese family ranch on Bradshaw between Calvine and Gerber. The Reese family was prominent in the development of Florin, particularly with the fruit industry. David Reese was one of the founders of the Florin Fruit Growers Association and was the sheriff of Sacramento County in 1902. The present day David Reese School was opened in 1966.
