Kindergarten Registration for 2010-2011

If you reside in the Sunrise School attendance area, and your child will be five by December 2, 2010; we will begin distribution of registration packets at 7:30 AM on December 3, 2009. A parent or legal guardian must be the person picking up the packet. A priority number is placed on the registration packet and you will sign your child’s name on a priority placement list for the next school year. The number is guaranteed to your child as long as you return the completed registration packet to the school office by 3:00 PM on Monday, February 1, 2010. A completed registration packet consists of all forms being filled out and a copy of child’s birth certificate, immunization records and a current SMUD or PG&E bill for your home address. If you have any questions, please call our school office at 916-985-4350.

EGUSD’s 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 School Calendars

The Elk Grove Unified School District and the Elk Grove Education Association have agreed to modify the traditional school calendar in 2009-10 and 2010-11. The school year at all traditional schools will start one week earlier in August and afford a two-term model in which the first term ends prior to the winter holiday break and the second term ends prior to the Memorial Day weekend.

Central to this modification was a strong interest by teachers at the secondary level to administer first semester finals prior to the winter break rather than suspending instruction, review, and the administration of final examinations until after a two-week vacation. We wanted you to be aware of the changes to the traditional calendar for planning purposes. We are optimistic that this new model at our traditional sites will be well received and look forward to evaluating the change over the next two years.

You can view the new 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 calendars on the EGUSD website at http://www.egusd.net/calendars/index.cfm. We especially encourage you to become familiar with the changes to the traditional school calendar and to consider these changes when planning family events and vacations. If you have any questions about the calendar, please contact you child’s school.
