School Year Intersession Programs and Camps
During the school year, there may be opportunities for students to participate in intersession offerings or camps during breaks. Year-round school sites offer five days of intersession for each off-track session. These programs operate during the regular school day for five days while each track is off, meaning they are in operation 12 months of the year. This teacher-led opportunity will be optional and will include Attendance Recovery (AR). The purpose of AR is to provide additional instructional opportunities for students who may have missed instruction during the regular school day or school year. Instructional opportunities will be provided by school site teachers, and include topics such as Science Technology Engineering Arts & Mathematics (STEAM), English Language Arts, Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), and Physical Education. All instruction will be aligned to grade level standards.Students who attend intersession may be picked up at the end of the school day or may join the ExL after school program during the week that they are attending intersession. Additionally, students who attend year-round schools are invited to attend a 3-day Fall Camp during the Thanksgiving break in November.
Traditional and modified traditional sites may offer additional five-day camps during winter or spring break. Winter or spring camps enable students from all calendars to have access to a minimum of 30 non-school days of programming (Ed. Code 46120(B)(i)).
