Tami Silvera (she/hers) has worked in the field of prevention education and youth development since 1997 and has been a part of EGUSD’s Student Support and Health Services Department since 2002. Tami spent 18 years on the Youth Development Office team. In 2021, she started a new career adventure and transitioned to Program Specialist for the Student and Family Empowerment Office. She is dedicated to providing quality student-centered programs and delivering supportive services and resources to EGUSD students and their families.  Tami has her degree in Social Work, and also holds teaching and administrative services credentials. She is a 25-year resident of Elk Grove and parent of an Elk Grove Unified student. In her down time, she enjoys gardening, reading, hiking, traveling and doting on her chickens, cats and her goofball dog Olive.

Silver Allen has been with the EGUSD since 2013 and joined the SAFE Office in 2016 as a Bilingual Family Advocate. Silver is now the Program Assistant in the SAFE Office. She serves students and families in the schools that are located east of HWY 99. Silver has supported vision and dental screening and numerous other outreach activities across the district. Silver was born in El Salvador and immigrated to the United States in 1979. Outside work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, relaxing, camping and fishing.

Elizabeth Bonilla (she/hers) began her career in youth development and education in 2010 in Los Angeles, then relocated to Sacramento in 2014. Prior to joining EGUSD in 2016, she worked with organizations like the YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs and Los Angeles Unified School District. As of Fall 2021, Elizabeth is one of the newest case managers to join the SAFE Center team and looks forward to continuing to connect students and their families with the support they need to be successful. Outside of work, Elizabeth loves to spend time with her family and friends as well as her two pets. She is an avid Disney fan and tries to make a stop at Disneyland every time she travels home to visit family.

Diane Campbell (she/hers) had been with Elk Grove Unified School District and the SAFE Office since May 2016.  Diane has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Sociology.  As an RTPT Diane provides case management services to the families in the district for general services as well as those families in a period of transition. Her goal is to help families feel supported through this period and let them know they are seen and matter.  Diane was raised in the Midwest (Go Hoosiers!) and returned to California for college and her career.   In her free time, Diane enjoys exploring tidepools, taking walks, watching NASCAR, attending concerts, spending time with family and friends, as well as being a puppy nanny for two wonderful yorkies.

Patricia Garcia has worked in the SAFE Office since 2007.  As a Regional Team Program Technician, she provides individual case management to families and students that are experiencing a homeless situation and connect other families in need to community services. She is passionate for the work and tries to serve students and families to the best of her ability.  She is a Sacramento Native and a parent of a child that attends EGUSD. In my free time, I spend as much time as I can with my family and 2 dogs, travel to Mexico, swim, and enjoy my backyard paradise.

Venita Jelks has been fortunate to be a part of the Student Support and Health Service Department for the past 22 years as a Family Advocate.  Venita is honored to have been one of the first Pregnant and Parenting Teen Family Advocate for 10 years. She has advocated for the “Project ACT Program” now known as the “Homeless Education Program” and currently enjoys branding her responsibilities in providing dental screening and vision exams for the Elementary School sites on the Westside of the 99 HWY. Venita held a seat on the “Family Life Education Advisory Committee” for 8 years and has earned a “Employee of the Year Award” for her dedicated service and commitment to quality education for all students.  Venita has two projects she holds dear the “Father Daughter Dance” which she founded and is held annually for the past 9 years at Prairie Elementary and playing Santa as she oversees the “Celebrate the Seasons Program” which brings joy to sponsors and our families.

Kim Karnes was blessed to start with the SAFE team in 2018 in the role of Program Assistant where she gets to support the staff and families. She has a background in customer service and non-profit administrative support and has earned a degree in Liberal Studies along with a certificate in Counseling. Kim loves to learn, spend time with her husband and family, listen to music, read, and actively pursue healthy living.

Margarita has been working at the SAFE Office for 5 years as a Family Advocate, Counseling and Guidance Technician, Program Assistant, and now as a Regional Team Program Technician (Case Manager). Margarita enjoys working with the district’s diverse students and families. She has also worked at Lodi Unified School District as a Bilingual Para-Educator. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the mountains and the beach.

Ajeshni (AJ) joined the EGUSD in 2003. In 2017, she transitioned to the SSC Assistant at the SAFE Office. She finds working to help students and families who are in need very rewarding. AJ is continuing her pathway to learning and taking classes to understand the needs of students and families. In her down time, she loves to travel, spend time with my family, read, work on home improvement and try out new food.

Aeishley joined the Elk Grove Unified School District in 2016, since then she has been working as our SAFE Office Project Implementor. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Sacramento State University. She currently works on developing programs for our homeless youth and families in transition under the Education for Homeless Children and Youth Grant (EHCY). Some of these programs include partnering with our local resources and agencies and bringing them into EGUSD to help support our most vulnerable population. Aeishley is a very passionate individual who loves working in the education system. She loves supporting anyone in need and enjoys her work in program development. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling to new destinations and spending time with her family and friends.

Cynthia Strain has been an educator with Elk Grove Unified School District since 1989; eight years as a teacher at Florin High, ten years as the District’s School-to-Career Specialist, ten years as the counselor at Las Flores Independent Study. After retiring in 2017, she returned part-time as the counselor for the EGUSD Homeless Education Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and master’s degree in School Counseling. Preparing new recipes, crocheting blankets for Sacramento Blankets for Sacramento Kids and being “cat mom” to her own cats and foster mom to Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary kittens keep her busy.

Jonah Stullman is a Licensed clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has supported youth and their families as a school social worker for the last 12 years in a variety of settings comprehensive, continuation and charter. Most recently he worked at Florin High School and Rutter Middle schools. Originally from the Bay Area Jonah comes with a passion for serving the most vulnerable students.   Jonah has a Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Francisco State.  When he is not supporting students and family he is likely spending time with his family.

Nidia Torres joined the SAFE Office in the fall of 2021 as a Regional Team Program Technician/Case Manager. She is looking forward to building a relationship with EGUSD youth and families and connecting families to resources they may need. Nidia is passionate about helping others find new ways to improve their existing situations that at the time may be barriers. Nidia is a mother of 3 kiddos that have attended and graduated from EGUSD schools. When not working she loves spending time with her family & furball Marley, hiking, camping, quad riding and barbequing.

Stephen Young has been in the SAFE Office since 2020 and the EGUSD since 2019.  He holds a Master’s degree in Social Work with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential and is currently working on his clinical license.  He has over 18 years of experience serving the homeless population in non-for-profit community and education settings.  He served as a homeless liaison for 5 years in another local school district before coming to EGUSD. Steve has a passion for equity, social justice and advocating for the districts most vulnerable student population.  Raised in Philadelphia and Minneapolis before moving to Elk Grove in 2015. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, gardening, traveling, serving at church, and spending time with his wife and kids.
