BOARD PRESIDENT


Gina Jamerson
Gina Jamerson was appointed to the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education in January 2021.
 
With more than 20 years working in higher education and supporting student success, Ms. Jamerson stays focused on providing access and opportunity for students. As Director of Student Outreach & Recruitment at Sonoma State University, she built partnerships with K-12 and college access organizations. She brings a unique insight to specific challenges faced by higher education faculty and staff and her in-depth experience in student services, relationship building, facilitation and professional development provides valuable expertise for implementing change.
 
As a former resident of Sonoma County, Gina actively engaged in the local business and educational community. She was a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Los Cien Community organization, worked with the North Bay Black Forum and sat on the Cotati Rohnert Park Unified School District LCAP committee. Gina was part of a committee of parents that opened a magnet elementary school focusing on Project Based Learning and was instrumental in the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding between Sonoma State University and the Cotati Rohnert Park Unified School District to support the opening of this school. She continued her involvement with University Elementary through the school’s site council and PTA, eventually holding the position of PTA President and Vice President.
 
Ms. Jamerson is currently the Director of Learning & Partnership Development for Guided Pathways with the Foundation for CA Community Colleges and the CA Community College Chancellor’s Office. She established the Guided Pathways Implementation Team where she oversees a statewide team in supporting all 116 of California’s Community Colleges in the implementation of Guided Pathways, focusing on closing equity gaps and meeting the goals of the Chancellor’s Vision for Success.
 
Gina and her husband and two sons moved to Elk Grove in August of 2019 and since becoming a resident, she became a member of the Laguna Sunrise Rotary Club, joined the Carroll Elementary PTA and was appointed Chair of the School Site Council at Toby Johnson Middle School. Becoming involved in the Elk Grove Unified School District and the community of Elk Grove demonstrates her strong commitment to education by Gina and her family. Ms. Jamerson received a bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies with a minor in Sociology & Chicano Studies from CSU Chico.
