As spring blossoms around us, I am reminded of the vibrancy and renewal that the season brings. It is with this spirit of growth and optimism that I write to you today, reflecting on this school year and looking towards the end of the 2023-2024 school year. 

 

With just a couple of months remaining, our focus remains steadfast on providing the best possible education and support to our students. Our teachers, staff and administrators have worked tirelessly implementing curriculum, creating engaging lessons and providing resources and services—all with the aim of providing our students, your children, with a high-quality education to be college and career ready.

 

I am pleased to report that we are closing the ten-year window on our 2015-2025 facility master plan. During that time, we built four new schools and rebuilt two, provided safety upgrades and updated classroom technology at all school sites. We did major repairs at several sites including full site modernizations, heating and air conditioning replacements and other infrastructure improvements at many school sites. We are excited to be in the beginning stages of our new ten-year facility master plan. Your participation and feedback have been invaluable throughout this process, and we are sincerely grateful for the thoughtful input and collaboration from the community. Together, we are shaping the future of our educational infrastructure to better serve the needs of our students and the entire community.

 

Additionally, I want to take this opportunity to assure you that we are closely monitoring the state budget developments and their potential impact on our District. Currently all indicators point to a reduction in funding, but Elk Grove Unified is fiscally strong and we remain optimistic about the budget development process. Please know, we are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way as we navigate any changes that may arise from the May budget revisions.  

 

As we enter this final stretch of the school year, let us continue to support one another, celebrate our students’ achievements, and remain focused on the journey ahead. With your continued partnership and dedication, I am confident that we will finish the academic year strong.
