How to Become a Substitute Teacher in the Elk Grove Unified School District

Below you will find the link with the different application requirements for sub teaching. You will also find this information noted on the Edjoin posting.
 
 
If you have never had a Credential nor an Emergency 30-Day Teaching Permit:
  • EGUSD can assist you in applying for your Emergency 30-Day Teaching Permit.
  • You will have to have a Bachelor’s degree or higher and attach the following documents to your Edjoin application: (only if EGUSD is applying for your Emergency 30- day teaching permit)
 
To apply to the Substitute Teacher position – You will need to attach the following documents to your Edjoin application:
 
After you submit a complete application on Edjoin, sub services will contact you via email, with the next steps.

Substitute Sick Leave

 
Note to Substitute Employees: Please ensure all fields of the Substitute Employee Paid Sick Leave Request form are properly completed and must be submitted to Human Resources no later than the 10th of each month payable on the next payroll. Incomplete forms will result in a denial of pay and will be returned to the employee for completion. The fully completed and hand signed form should be emailed to: subservices@egusd.net by the 10th of the month.

District Email and Employee Self-Serve (ESS)

All current substitutes now have a district email assigned to them. If you are a current substitute it is important that you set it up and access it regularly. This is the primary way of communication. If you need additional assistance accessing your district email please reach out to Tech. Services at helpdesk@egusd.net or (916) 686-7720.
 
District communications are emailed out regularly and this will be the way to access the Employee Self-Serve (ESS) web-based application/portal. The ESS application will provide employees access to leave balances, credentials, pay stub/history and W2 information, as well as request to change address, phone and emails. Paycheck stubs will no longer be mailed and will only be accessed in the ESS application  http://portal.egusd.net.
