EGUSD 2026-2027 Middle and High School Open Enrollment

On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) will begin accepting Open Enrollment requests for the 2026-2027 school year. Students who are currently enrolled in EGUSD and wish to apply for Open Enrollment at one of the ten available middle and high schools must have their parents or guardians log on to ParentVUE to begin the open enrollment process and complete both Step 1 and Step 2. Students who are not currently enrolled in EGUSD, but plan to enroll for the 2026-27 school year, must first be enrolled into their resident school prior to beginning the open enrollment process.

The open enrollment process includes two steps. In Step 1, parents must select the requested school beginning Wednesday, January 7, 2026, through 5:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Beginning Monday, January 26th, parents will be able to view the status of their open enrollment request in ParentVue. Parents will also receive a ParentVue email if granted admission to the requested school and directed to complete Step 2 to secure the desired school selection. The window for Step 2 will be from Monday, February 2, 2026, through Tuesday, February 10, 2026, by 5:00 p.m.

Please note that paper applications will not be available for this process.

If you need to register for a ParentVUE account, please contact your child’s school to obtain an activation code and instructions. Once you have your account set up you will be able to select an Open Enrollment school.

EGUSD Open Enrollment Policy

Under Board Policy 5116.1, the Board of Education annually identifies schools available for Open Enrollment Intradistrict Transfers. Assembly Bill 1114 allows the Board to limit Open Enrollment to schools that have space available based on future student enrollment projections. The bill further requires that:

Parents who are district residents will be able to select the school their child will attend.
Students who reside within a school’s attendance boundaries will not be displaced by students “open enrolling” into the attendance area.
Any school receiving admission requests more than its capacity will utilize a random, unbiased selection process for deciding among applicants.

Senate Bill 1207 requires that for the purpose of Open Enrollment, the governing board of a school district calculates the capacity of district school in a non-arbitrary manner using pupil enrollment and available space.
