ParentVUE FAQs

Q: Do I have to go to my child’s school to get the information necessary to create a ParentVUE Account?

Yes. We want to make sure that your child’s information is secure, so this needs to be an in-person transaction.

Q: I never got around to activating my ParentVUE account last school year. Do I need a new activation code?

Yes, the codes had expiration dates, so you will need to visit the front office of your child’s school to obtain a new code.

Q: I used ParentVUE last year; do I need a new activation code for this school year?

No, returning ParentVUE users do not need a new activation code for the new school year. Your account stays active from year to year.

Q: Can I use the same login for all my children enrolled in Elk Grove Unified Schools?

Yes. Your ParentVUE login gives you access to information on all your children enrolled at Elk Grove Unified Schools.

Q: I have multiple children attending EGUSD schools, but I’m only seeing some of them in ParentVue, what should I do?

If you are not seeing one or more of your children when logged into ParentVUE, it can be an indication of a duplicate parent record for you in the system (your name could be spelled differently, etc.). Please contact your child’s school (the child you are unable to see in ParentVUE) to correct this issue.

Q: Can I login to ParentVUE with my email?

Your email will only work as the ParentVUE User ID if it was entered as the User ID at the time of ParentVUE registration.

Q: What if I forget my ParentVUE password?

Click on the More Options tab under the blue login button on the EGUSD ParentVUE login page

Select Forgot Password, enter your primary email address or user name, and you will be emailed a link to change your password. If you have lost access to the primary email account, you will need to go to your child’s school and get a new activation code. The school can also look up your account user ID if needed.

Q: I clicked on “Forgot Password” in ParentVUE and never received an email response. What do I do?

First, check to be sure you are using the primary email account that you used when activating your ParentVUE account.

Second, in order to access your EGUSD ParentVUE account, you must go to the Elk Grove Unified School District ParentVUE portal: https://ca-egusd-psv.edupoint.com

It has come to our attention that several parents are doing Google searches for ParentVUE and clicking on the first results – which is most likely a link to another district’s ParentVUE portal. In this case, parents would not receive an email, due to not being registered users for that school district.

Please contact your child's school to reset password if issues persist.

Q: What email address is the ParentVUE “Forgot Password” email sent from?

The email will come from noreply@egusd.net. Please make sure it has not been blocked or categorized as spam from your personal email provider.

Q: Can two guardians have separate login information?

Q: What do I do if I see inaccurate information through ParentVUE?

If you see inaccurate demographic information, which you are unable to update in your ParentVUE account, go to your child’s school office, so they can update your information.

Q: Is there an app I can use?

Yes, there is a ParentVUE app for iOS and Android. To activate your account initially, you can either go to the EGUSD ParentVUE portal using a web browser or activate your account using the ParentVUE app. Then you can use the app to check your child’s information.

Note: After installing the app, open it and in the settings screen (gears icon in the lower left corner), type in the district’s Synergy URL, https://ca-egusd.edupoint.com then click the “Test” button. Once the application finds the district, you can then enter your district username and password to login.

Q: I don’t see Synergy Mail in my ParentVUE/StudentVUE mobile app. What should I do?

This issue should be resolved by logging out and then logging back in.

Q: How do I get push notifications on my app?

All you need to do is login and check on some piece of information for your student. By doing this, your phone will register to start sending push notifications for Synergy Mail messages.

Q: How do I manage my push notifications?

You manage your push notification like you do other notifications for apps in your device settings. You can add other notifications for Synergy besides mail by clicking the gear icon in the lower left corner.

Q: I tried to email my child’s teacher and got the following message on my computer “default email application has not been set up.” What does this mean?

While we are not able to assist parents with troubleshooting their personal computers or mobile devices, we have gathered the following resources to help troubleshoot possible email setup issues.

Q: Is there another option besides using the email function in Synergy to send a message to my child’s teachers?

Yes, Synergy Mail was added for the 2018-19 school year. You can message teachers and staff at your child’s school directly through ParentVUE. To learn more about this feature, you can access the Introduction to Synergy Mail Guide.

Q: How come I got an error when I selected My Teacher in Synergy Mail?

This error can occur because students aren’t technically enrolled until day one of school, so they don’t have teachers assigned to them.

Q: How can I navigate from one child to another within the same ParentVUE account?

All children linked to a parent in the District will have their names listed in the menu at the top of the ParentVUE homepage. Click a child’s name to view his/her information.

Q: How come grades are entered every few days for one of my children, whereas for my other child, it’s less frequently?

Given the variety of classroom and instructional reasons, some grade books may be updated more frequently than others. For example, due to the complexity of the assignment and the time it takes to ensure that the scoring is careful and thorough, some assignments, such as research papers or special projects, may take longer to grade than others.

Q: I’m concerned about the fluctuation from day to day/week to week when it comes to my child’s overall grade. Why does it change so often?

Course grades may seem inaccurate or fluctuate from day to day/week to week for several reasons:
  • Early in the grading period, there may be fewer graded assignments, and so occasional high or low grades will have a greater influence on the cumulative grade/score.
  • Teachers may have weighted some assignments more than others – so certain assignments may count more heavily towards a cumulative grade.
  • Teachers may allow students to redo an assignment in certain circumstances. Assignment scores and cumulative grades may increase as a result. Or it might just be that updates, changes, or corrections are being made to the grade book.

Q: Can I check my child’s past report cards in ParentVUE?

You cannot view any report cards prior to the 2017-18 school year in ParentVUE. Please check with your child’s school to get a copy of his/her report cards prior to the 2017-18 school year. From 2017-18 on, ParentVUE will contain all report cards.

Q: How can I Access State Score Reports in ParentVUE?
