Oliver Trach
Isabella Sigal was elected to the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education for the 2023-2024 school year. She is a senior at Franklin High School, and will serve through June 30, 2024.

Ms. Sigal was elected to this position after interviewing alongside representatives from six of the nine comprehensive high schools in EGUSD. Along with her seat on the Board, she also represents the Student Voice Committee. This committee is composed of a representative from each of the EGUSD high schools that regularly meet with their sites' Equity Committees. The committee serves as the “student voice” for each site, and confers with Ms. Sigal regularly, so she has an opportunity to hear from a wide range of sites within the district.

Isabella demonstrates exemplary communication and professionalism. She has a wide array of experience serving the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, Teens From Teens Club, as well as the Concordia Counseling Center to speak as a voice for the youth. She has also served Franklin High School’s Associated Student Body as her class president. Her skills and experiences were highlighted through the application and interview process, and she continues to demonstrate these qualities with her Student Voice Committee peers and fellow students. She is not afraid of opportunities and is humbled to serve her greater community. She understands the unique demands placed on students' social and emotional needs and its balancing act with being academically motivated. She also values extracurriculars and their importance to creating a well-rounded student.

Her plan is to promote transparency and initiate a steady means of communication between students and their Student Voice Committee representatives. She advocates for students to understand their power to foster change whenever and wherever they are.
