Student Board Member

Celine Qin
Elk Grove Unified is proud to introduce its 2024-2025 Student Board Member, Celine Qin, a senior from Franklin High School. The EGUSD School Board voted and confirmed Qin as the District’s Student Board Member at the May 7, 2024 Board meeting. Qin will serve a one-year term as preferential voting member at EGUSD Board meetings from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

In addition to her position on the Board, Celine is the Founder and Executive Director of The Reclamation Project @ 916, a Sacramento-originating social justice organization empowering and mobilizing California youth. She also serves as a Statewide Leadership Board Member of the California Student Board Member Association and the Racial and Economic Justice Chair of the Sacramento County Youth Commission.

As a first-generation, low-income student, Celine is a proud advocate for youth from historically marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds. She actively organizes with nonprofits to ensure all youth thrive in education, civic engagement, wellness, and causes for social change.

In her role as Elk Grove Unified School District’s Student Board Member, Celine hopes to spearhead programs that increase engagement with EGUSD’s Student Bill of Rights, promote student-centered policy ideas and advocacy, and establish robust pathways to collect first hand testimonies from students District-wide.
